I bought this camera after seeing the reviews on amazon.com, in particular that it was durable. I enjoyed doing videos with it. But very soon after the warranty expired, the video stopped working. It still worked as a VCR, but not as a camera. When I sent it for repair at one of the Sharp partners, the bill to repair would have been higher than the cost of the camera!!! So be aware that this is not in fact a durable camera, and Sharp USA did nothing to help the confidence of this ex-customer.

Sharp's VL-PD3U Digital ViewCam combines the features of a high-end camcorder with digital-still camera technology. The 660,000-pixel CCD and PCM digital stereo recording functions provide high-quality images and sound. The ViewCam provides a 2.5-inch swivel color LCD screen for easy recording from any angle and also offers a 10x optical/100x digital power zoom and digital image stabilization.

With a number of automatic exposure and focus settings, digital special effects, playback modes and programmed fades and wipes, the Sharp VL-PD3U gives you a wide variety of creative options. It also has handy battery- and tape-remaining indicators to keep you from inadvertently running out of recording time.

Supplied accessories include a remote, audio-video dubbing cables, lithium-ion battery pack, two lithium-ion batteries, a universal voltage AC adapter/battery charger, a shoulder strap, and a protective lens cap.
